Migration guide

Hello, new users! If you come from the original ViMusic app, you probably want to migrate. Well, you are in luck, since this app's database is fully compatible with ViMusic and can be migrated easily. Here are the steps:

  1. Open your old ViMusic installation
  2. Go to Settings (top left corner in the home screen)
  3. Tap on Database
  4. Create a backup of ViMusic in a place where you can find it later on
  5. Install ViTune. This is a new app instead of an update of ViMusic, so it doesn't matter if you already installed it before creating a backup.
  6. Go back to the same Database tab, but this time in ViTune (could be labeled differently, though, as we are slowly but surely adding translations to ViTune)
  7. Restore the backup you just created.

After these steps, you're basically done. For the folks that want to get all of their offline songs back in one go, you can opt to pre-cache all your playlists, or even all of your songs. You can find this feature inside of a playlist, or even for a single song item. Just tap the download icon, or search for the 'Pre cache' button in the song menu.

Credits

Huge shoutout to @vfsfitvnm for creating the original ViMusic app, as it provided a stable, feature-rich but simple way of listening to music for a lot of people, myself included. I actually daily-drove ViMusic and now ViTune.

Also, a big thank-you goes out to the community. I love the support this fork is getting, alongside the translations/bug reports/ideas/thoughts. Thank you all.
