We publish quite a lot of metadata in our BIRTHs. Much of this has not been examined since the early days of F+.

Some of this fits squarely into 'relatively static metadata consumed only by certain applications', and should probably be moved into the ConfigDB. This is probably a Manager job rather than an Edge Agent job; the EA just does what it's told.

Some of this (Address/Path, for instance) should not be published at all.

If we attempt to reconcile consumers and producers in more than the most basic way, we will need semantic information about the data published by a Device. We should not push this down into the BIRTH without thinking.
