Local ftp and settings

Good morning
Got my AllSky camera working. (Raspberry Pi 4, raspi Hq Cam, 2.1mm Two Lens)

1 question
I can't get the timelapse videos etc to upload to my local website.

In the ftp-settings.sh are the following commands:

2nd question

Is it because of my bright night sky or can I get more out of the picture with other settings (here is a picture of the night sky.

1. See the "Settings -> Allsky Website" page (ftp-settings.sh section) for recommended settings. You are using the directory name for the file name.
2. Your overall brightness looks pretty good so I'd suggest stretching the image to bring out the stars. See the "Settings -> Allsky" page's AUTO_STRETCH settings. You'll need to play around with the settings. I suggest the following (which uses the picture above):

cd ~/allsky/images/20230813
convert image-20230813223336.jpg  -sigmoidal-contrast "${AUTO_STRETCH_AMOUNT}x${AUTO_STRETCH_MID_POINT}" ~/allsky/tmp/test.jpg

replacing the two variables with values, e.g., "10x20%", then looking at ~/allsky/tmp/test.jpg to see if it's better or worse. Keep changing the numbers until you get what you want.
This is what I use with my ZWO ASI178mc at my observatory which is very dark:

AUTO_STRETCH="true"
AUTO_STRETCH_AMOUNT=35
AUTO_STRETCH_MID_POINT="10%"

Nice thx :) Local is working fine.

But where do I have to put the variables ?

and how can i open .jpg files in cmd?

An example of running the command is:

convert image-20230813223336.jpg -sigmoidal-contrast "10x20%" ~/allsky/tmp/test.jpg

The 10 is the amount of stretch and 20% is the mid-point. Don't forget the x and %.

If you don't know how to use VNC or copy files from your Pi to a PC, then I suggest stopping Allsky and run:

convert image-20230813223336.jpg -sigmoidal-contrast "10x20%" ~/allsky/tmp/image.jpg

This replaces the Liveview page's image with your test image, so to view it go to the LiveView page in the WebUI.
When done testing, restart Allsky.

im also getting the same issue, ive got everything setup and working however the local website does not allow me to see any of the captured time lapses, keograms, startrails, ive set my ftp-settings.sh to reflect the below

from my local network i can view the website front page with the live view via http://allsky.local/allsky/index.php, however unable to see any of the captured files via the right hand side toolbar
any help would be appreciated.

When you press the "i" icon on lhe left toolbar of the Allsky Website, information about your camera appears on the right side.

Icons for the timelapse, keograms, and startrails are on the left toolbar. What happens when you press them?
Can you attach a screenshot?

Glad to hear you got it working. A LOT of people struggle with this so it will be significantly easier in the next release.

I have this set up the same way except I don't have /home/pi in front of /allsky/html/allsky. I did test this with the debug tool and it still works to move a file into the _DIR. So I copied the previous nights startrails/keograms/timelpse into the website directory on the Pi via the upload.sh but they still don't show up on the website. The files are in the /allsky/html/allsky/ folders (videos, keo...) as I have checked. but the website still show nothing.

What happens when you click on the icons on the left side? Does it say there are no items or is there an error or nothing shows up?
Do the file names have YYYYMMDD, e.g., keogram-20240526.jpg?

Its just says there are no items. And the file names looks just like that as i did not change them when I copied them to the directory.

cd ~/allsky/html/allsky
ls -l keograms startrails videos

Note the blue checkmark by "Disable Cache". That turned off the browser cache, which was likely keeping the images from appearing.

I actually clicked disable cache a second time around. It wasn’t enabled before. It didn’t seem to make any difference. If I go on my iPad instead of my pc and go to the website, and click time-lapse videos, It says there’s nothing there. If I hit refresh on the browser, it appears. But if I close the tab and reopen it’s not there unless I refresh while on the Timelapse video screen. Same for startrails and keograms. The only thing I haven’t tried is disabling my Pi-hole but I don’t think that would have much to do with it. I didn’t specify a dns on my allsky Rpi although it is connected to an access point that uses my Pihole dns. I’ll try disabling a few things and report back.

This doesn't sound like an Allsky issue since you can see the images sometimes. It looks like a caching issue of some type. Does Pi-hole or something else in your network cache pages?
Some proxies cache which gave problems to other users.

I think you are right. It's not an issue with Allsky. The wifi stopped working on my Pi5 last night and I could not access Allsky. I plugged it in via ethernet today and everything works as it should. So it was either an issue with the wifi itself in the Pi or it was because it was connected to a wap that has a dns using my Pi-hole. A side question...It was taking dark frames all night and into the morning. I unplugged it without stopping allsky and I am not sure how many dark frames are messed up especially without having it covered when I brought it inside. Where is the directory of dark frames stored? I might want to delete the bad ones.
