Should we automatically show (with opt-out) release highlights when we release a new version in vscode?

Many extensions do this, including vscode itself

Note that even with the fix for #9586 vscode will not automatically notify users that an extension has been updated, or point them to the changelist - users will have to bring up the extension's page explicitly.

Of course it's imperative there be a "don't show me again" option, although some have expressed major dislike of notifications like this, others love them.

@StephenWeatherford Will try out the pin feature for visibility on these types of discussions and request for comments.

Maybe we could have the option to turn this on, on the main Bicep Extension page.

• Then you can silently introduce the feature, plus new Bicep users would see it the first time they install the extension
• Also current users would see the option to enable it if they open the main extension page.

I was assuming the pop up would be different from the main extension page?

I see some extensions just put the release notes on the main page.
