What is gbXML?

gbXML (green building XML schema) is an industry supported schema for sharing building information between disparate building design software tools. It is a type of XML file that has over 500 types of elements and attributes that allow you to describe all aspects of a building.

Getting started with gbXML and BHoM

  1. Pull information from Revit. Create the components from step 1 in the GIF and connect them to each other.
  2. Modify your BHoM Objects in any user interface (Grasshopper or Dynamo). You have to explode your objects and connect them like they are connected in step 2 in the GIF in order to display your geometry.
  3. Push your final result by connecting your objects (building or spaces) to the push component. Enter file name and filepath. When the script has run you will find the gbXML file in the folder you specified.
