Using VirtualBox:

Install VirtualBox either on Mac or Windows using the provided installers. (For installation on any other OS including Linux see the virtualbox page for your distribution)

If you want another text editor you can install Eclipse or sublime or IntelliJ to develop your code however the project was developed and tested with IntelliJ and Eclipse

Setting up the rover without a virtual image:
