In the fritzing schematic you left some wires unconnected, how are they supposed to connect to the power cables?

Also, the datasheet specifies that there is a high shocking hazard when using that chip without isolation, and I don't see any on your schematic. I think it would be nice to have a couple optocouplers to isolate that chip from the RPi side. I don't know yet how to handle its power though.

hopefully the following schematic helps with the wiring the chip to the relays:

I'm aware that the optocouplers should be introduced to the schematic. However, I am really not a electrical engineer, so I cannot help with that.

What values did you use for the resistors? What's the usual grid voltage in your area?
Are these values configurable in the software?

I can't remember the exact values I used for the resistors, but it shouldn't be hard to calculate. The grid voltage here is 230V.

Yes, the values configurable in software (reference here).
