Well, this is it. Thanks to events outside my control (and not involving this mod), I'm too tired for a proper post-mortem, so that will be added later.

But yeah. It's done :)

Will it have a v1.1? Well, if bugs are found, or updates are needed because Mega Crit updated Slay The Spire, we will have v1.0.X, to fix stuff.

But a v1.1... I don't know.

Through it's development, Quarter Circle Forward PUNCH! suffered a heavy case of feature creep...

...the plan was to it to have 12 relics - one for each of the SF2 fighters, bosses excluded - and well. Here we are, with 32 relics, and that with me having more ideas for stuff (in varied levels of polishment) stored, but that I didn't had the energy to add - it simply reached a point where I was done with the mod, it wasn't fun anymore... but who knows? Maybe one day I'm going to play a fighting game again, or inspiration is going to hit, and I will decide to do a v1.1?

Or maybe I will mod another game.

Or I will do something else. Time will tell.

What I know is that at least this is a mark in the sense that it's a FINISHED project - I always had a problem regarding unplanned, unfinished ones, and having managed to reach 1.0 with this (and thanks to the lessons learned with its development, other projects) is a huge step forward, so... yeah. That's good.

And it's good to know that in a crazy world like ours, I managed to give some happiness and entertainment to others, and helped others to do the same - it's one of the lessons that the covid pandemic brought me: never ever underestimate what a respite from the daily problems can do.

And of course, this mod wouldn't be possible without a ton of people who are mentioned through the repository's issues, and also on the Github that I still have to update : p You know who you are, and for you, a heartfelt thanks ;-;

Well, this ended up being a semi-post-mortem. I fell that I still need to do a technical one, and will... later.

What a long road .-. Well, a proper final text will be done with a post-mortem and a true v1.0 version - this one is ALMOST there, only thing left is some extra testing, an extra chinese text and a fix in an old Rainbow Brush bug.

Still, this one will go to Steam? Yup. :)

White Boots

Fixed bug where the relic damage being dealt was being affected by Strength and Weak, when applied to the player.

Misc

  • Fixed Potion Compendium bug where the New Challenger Potion was showing the wrong tooltip.

Black Training Shirt

  • New graphics, from the artist oninego; (Reduction in size to fit the relic space of this and other arts made by me, not him, any pixels weirdly positioned are my fault : p)

Cattail

  • Triggers its effect after 6 fights instead of 7;

Chain With Nametags

  • New graphics, from the artist oninego;

Dark Gi

  • Added custom sound effect for when its picked;

Duffel Bag

  • Fixed bug where it would crash when using the zhs localization;
  • Its card rewards use a smaller version of the Duffel Bag's relic image;

Extra Skeleton

  • Activates after 6 turns, not 5 anymore;

Fighting Gloves

  • Added a way to see the upgraded stats while choosing the cards;

Handcuffs

  • Now flash at each combat start;
  • Unsteady should not do more damage than the enemy has Block;

Killian Engine Alpha

  • Added FX to the relic when it adds/remove cards;
  • Also, now gives the choice of 7 between 28 cards;

Lotus Statue

  • Now works on Rest sites;
  • Has a new description;

Mixed Paint Bucket

  • Added a QCFPunch keyword for Pallete Pick;

Necklace of Skulls

  • Should not show "Loot" image after effect is applied in a Shop;
  • Crashed between Necklace of Skulls and Kintsugi;

New Challenger Potion

  • Considers Sacred Bark effects now (and has its description changed by it as well);
  • It gives Emerald instead of Sapphire Keys (as it should) when Burning Elite rooms are created by it;

Rainbow Brush

  • It's now, FINALLY, a Boss tier relic. That's because it got some tweaks to be on that tier of power;
  • Has loading messages only when debug is on.
  • Fixed some crash bugs involving other mods;

Special Ops Insignia

  • New graphics, from the artist oninego;

"Strongest" Style Guidebook

  • New SFX;

Unceasing Flame

  • New SFX;

Misc

  • Fixed the config button that did nothing, removing it
  • Improved translations reflecting some of the changes ago, courtesy of Discord's Rita-B

With StS v2.0 coming to us, it's time for a update to avoid crashes. Steam will also be updated as soon as 2.0 hits.

Future updates will be for v2.0, so if for any reason you are using v1.1 and wants to use this mod, use the v0.17.2 version of it instead.

Fighting Gloves

  • Fixed crash where the relic calls for an image that does not exist anymore in base game.

Lotus Statue, Necklace of Skulls

  • Both now work with Vampires! event.
  • Removed description that said they didn't.

New Challenge Potion

  • Removed unnecessary patch that made it work in StS v1.1.

Red Gi

  • Fixed crash where the relic tries to apply an effect using a function that does not exist anymore in base game.

School Backpack

  • Now it can give Watcher cards as well.

Special Ops Insignia

  • Buffed, now it gives +1 hand size. - To avoid its given cards ending in the discard pile.

Rl issues persist, but this was needed. Not much to tell, just that White Boots' lack of a zhs translation is now fixed, thanks to Rita-B providing it. :)

v0.17.0 - Almost One Year Later...

Well, it was a marathon to reach this point. Beh- nah, this is not far of v0.16.34. STILL

I don't have much to say about the road through 27 releases to reach this one, I will leave that to when v1.0 is a reality. This update brings a much needed rework to Rainbow Brush (thanks to Schwer-Muta, who pointed out many flaws the relic had) , some extra text for the modifiers and some general polish.

This is also the same content that will be at the Steam update, zhs translation included. :)

Also, updates will stop for a while, rl issues.

Broken Tusk

  • Having it and Red Headband will trigger first Broken Tusk, then Red Headband. - A necessity to avoid situations where picking Red Headband first makes Broken Tusk useless unless you draw 2+ Status/Curses in one turn.

Chain With Nametags

  • Buffed: now gives 34% instead of 20% Block as Temp HP instead - 20% Block had the effect of blocking only a few extra points of damage... which looked too weak for an Uncommon Relic. Probably will be nerfed in the future. (So enjoy while you can >_>)

Crimson Sash

  • Has a proper temp relic image now. Yes, more boots.

Primary Brush

  • Out of bounds to Artist. Seriously, gaining extra Paint and being able to Darken your canvas too?! Nope. (Should I also make it not spawn if the player has Artist's Darken cards? Hm...)

RAINBOW BRUSH

  • Unseen Curses and Status won't show as Unknown cards.
  • Cards with Healing tag won't spawn anymore through it - this avoids degenerate strategies of turtling up and waiting a good healing card to appear and then spawn it continuously.
  • Relic now gives cards with Ethereal or Exhaust, with Ethereal ones costing at least 1 - this avoids the "death by small retains" and give ways to leave useless cards behind.

Special Ops Insignia

  • Silent Only. Drawing 4 extra cards in one turn... is something easily done by Silent, the other v1.1 base game classes would have trouble doing this, enough for situations where the relic would be a dud. So, by now, Silent Only.

"Strongest" Style Guidebook

  • Weakest Defend now has a "proper" image.
  • Weakest Energy Blast projectile time was tweaked a bit.

Unplanned pre-release since Discord's [TLG] Netherworld#5275 asked to help with testing (thanks! :) ), so no chinese translation update for this one.

Of what's new, THREE new boss relics that will push your combat expertise, and lots of polishing. Seriously, lots. Thanks to GK for a lot of suggestions involving the relics' descriptions and in some cases, their effects.

  • Red Cyclone for Zangief and giving grappling fears into your enemies;

Dark Gi

  • New Boss Relic! Be careful to not overextend using it.

Fighting Gloves

  • Now it works with Conspire's Infinite Journal, enjoy your limitless upgrades xD (thanks for Discord's Cookiechu #2073 for this one)

Green Leotard

  • Fixed zhs name, it was the name + part of the description before.

Killian Engine Alpha

  • New Boss Relic! For those who like multiclassing a bit :)

License

  • Changed from LGPL to CC-BY-4.0, it was supposed to be CC-BY-4.0 from the beggining, but the repository was made by mistake with LGPL. Well, fixed.

Red Headband

  • Instead of drawing one random card, it just draws one card. Again, easier to understand.

School Backpack

  • Refactored. Improved code to be more legible.

White Boots

  • Reworked. The new version has less damage potential, but the description is way more clearer to the player and has less turtle potential.

Wild Herbs Ointment

  • Buffed. Gives +1 Max HP when the effect triggers.

At this release, two new relics! Both use cards and mechanics from Vex's TheArtistMod, so if you want to use them, have that mod loaded too.

Primary Brush maaaaay be a little OP when used with The Artist character... so, if it needs a nerf, please tell me.

As usual, the mod has some polishing, Rita-B's zhs translation is in place and the next update? We are finally going to update at Steam too! This means some graphical polish! :) (and if you're reading this, are playing this versions and never sent a bug, critic or comment, now is a good time to start : D)

And at least one new relic. A BOSS relic. But which one?

  • Now it has tooltips to tell to the player WHAT exactly his choices are... (thanks Cookiechu!)

Broken Tusk

  • Fixed. Old version was broken and giving extra damage each turn, now it should work as intended.

Challenge Coin

  • To avoid confusion with people thinking it's from Challenge The Spire, its name now it's New Challenge Coin.

Fighting Gloves

  • No more right clicking! :D The relic has a proper (with temp art, but one step at a time!) button now in Rest Sites.

Handcuffs

  • Relic appears above the player when effect is applied.

Mixed Paint Bucket

  • New Uncommon Relic. (needs TheArtist mod)
  • Exhausted Pallete Picks not having Exhaust is not a bug, but a feature v_v

In this release, four new modifiers. Three of them give three relics inspired by the same fighter, for you to start a run with.

The fourth one gives the new relic, Rainbow Brush, which is inspired by Valerie from Fantasy Strike.

It's not a relic to trust your run with, and for that reason can be obtained only (excluding other mods shenanigans) through the Unbounded Creativity modifier.

Also, since this was an unexpected release for me, no updates of the zhs translation, the planned next release will be translated as intended.

The last two Dhalsim inspired relics are done! Both do some shenanigans involving Removing cards that I think will be interesting... except regarding the Vampires event:

that event Removes cards differently from everything else, and would be too much work to make both relics work with it. The hope is that that gets fixed in StS v0.12. (update: It got fixed! : D Thanks to Blank and reina :) )

Also, the usual polishing and zhs translation update. A few translations are missing since I haven't asked Rita for a translation update, sorry about that, will try to avoid the same hiccup in the future.

  • Flashes when effect is activated.

  • Added code so Bottle relics' text is updated if their bottled card is Upgraded.

Green Leotard

  • Limited conditions to spawn so only Silent or players with decks that can draw 3 cards at least or has a bigger hand than they had at a run start.

Necklace of Skulls

Special Ops Insignia

  • Exhaust and Ethereal keywords appear in the modified cards' description.
