Nice push buttons with LEDs #49

Those buttons are much nicer than the ones listed in the BoM, think I might get a set. I like the idea of having the LEDs under software control, too. Although the only spare pins I can see are:
I'm wondering if either a second port expander, or a bigger one, could be put on the front panel board, and the buttons+LEDs wired to that. TBH I think it makes more sense for the buttons to be wired to that board instead of the main board anyway - not sure why I did it the way it is. As it would involve either a different or second port expander, it would have the benefit of being detectable by the firmware. |

ah, yes, I meant the one on the front panel creating a bit of a spaghetti mess of course. (Perhaps with more expanders on the front panel it'd be worth having that one with more smt and use the assembly service) |

I wasn't a fan of the standard push buttons so went looking for something better. I found some nice looking buttons on Mouser, E-Switch LP1OA1AB.
main(edit:front panel) board which has spare pins and that way the LEDs will be under the software control - they could light up which ever switches have a function for example. I plan on doing a PR for that sometimeBeta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
