The GitHub-hosted app can be noticeably slow,

Serving from localhost would practically eradicate the issue, but remains a tall order on Pad. Try to serve using WorldWideWeb or equivalent.

Not sure whether this is technically feasible without a separate machine installed in Pavilions, but it is worth trying.

UPDATE: Tried WorldWideWeb to no avail: the server is unstable and not significantly faster than a external connection.
