Betrayer 3D Fix

This is my first non-trivial 3D fix! Thanks heaps to bo3b's Shaderhacker school for teaching me how to use Helix mod effectively =D I'm still learning, but I've managed to figure out enough to fix this game for perfect 3D!

To install this fix, extract 3Dfix-Betrayer-2014-09-05.zip to Binaries\Win32 in the Betrayer directory.

Fixed:

  • Water (reflections & refractions on both the Ocean and Lake)
  • God rays
  • Sun depth in the otherworld (if you can call that a sun? "glowing thing in the sky" depth?)
  • Red glow above the health barrels.

This release also includes Eqzitara's original fixes to the shadows and certain other effects in this game.

The UI depth is set far back into the screen by default - you can select other presets by pressing 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0. Eqzitara's RightMouseScript is not included since one of the game's updates had broken it and I didn't feel it was necessary after pushing the UI back.

A custom convergence setting will be activated while holding the right mouse button - to customise it, hold down the right mouse button while adjusting it normally, then press F7 to save (while still holding the right mouse button).

There might still be one very minor glitched effect near the end of the game - I need to replay the game to check. Otherwise, I declare this game to be perfect in 3D!!

Betrayer Work In Progress Release 1

Pre-release

This WIP pushes the UI back to a more comfortable depth, which allows the in-game crosshair, compass, etc to be used more comfortably in 3D.

To install, extract Betrayer.zip to Binaries\Win32 in the Betrayer directory.

IMPORTANT: I have yet to work out how to set an initial value for the UI depth, so you need to right click in the game to activate the custom depth.

The UI depth value is configured with Const1 in the dx9settings.ini file - I have it set to 0.995 * separation for normal gameplay and 1.0 * separation while aiming. You can use this online tool to convert alternative values to hex if you find it is now too far back: http://gregstoll.dyndns.org/~gregstoll/floattohex/

Separate convergence and separation values are used while aiming. To customise the either set, use the standard Ctrl+F3/F4/F5/F6 buttons then press F7 (without control) to save. If you are customising the aiming settings be sure to hold down the right mouse the whole time you are adjusting them until you have pressed F7.

Effects still broken:

  • Water
  • God rays
  • Red glow on health barrel not drawn in both eyes from certain angles & distances.
