Hotfix Changes

  • Reduced cosmetics during October outside of Halloween modes. Removed lighting change outside of Halloween, because it was dark for some people trying to play the regular randomizer modes.
  • Halloween modes light aug now costs energy and is dim. Can be upgraded to level 2 to make it brighter and no longer cost energy. I think this makes it feel even more like a horror survival game.

  • Fixed ChargedPickup (armors, etc) timer rounding issues
  • Added an option for the color tint of Vision Enhancement/Tech Goggles
  • Vision Enhancement/Tech Goggles now use blue highlights for datacubes/nanokeys, this can help at max level when there's a lot of items visible

  • Added message to Spy Drone Window to indicate when you don't have enough energy to detonate

Minor Changes

General Balance Changes

  • Buffed regular sword damage and speed
  • Reverted old nerf of master pistol 180% vs vanilla 200% (this catches us up with old changes like helmets being added)
  • Buffed range mod, nerfed ranges for pistols and assault rifle
  • Buffed accuracy for pistols
  • Laser sight mods can now be applied to crossbows and plasma rifles
  • Fixed quick scope exploit, scope view now has instant shake
  • Stealth pistol base damage buffed to 9 instead of 8, so the chances of it overtaking the regular pistol are a bit more likely
  • Slightly increased pistol ammo, rates are still lower than vanilla
  • Buffed EMP Shield by making levels 1 to 3 slightly stronger (level 4 was already 100% resistance), and all levels make you immune to scrambler grenades
  • Buffed Energy Shield by making it use 25 energy per minute like multiplayer, instead of 40 like vanilla
  • Heavy Weapon skill (from 100% to 160%) now linearly increases movement speed with heavy weapons instead of only increasing it at the 150% cutoff
    • Each level of Microfibral Muscle now also increases movement speed with heavy weapons
  • Synthetic Heart now allows boosting some augs past max level (Speed Enhancement aug level 4 is 170%, level 5 is 180%)
  • Tweaked combat difficulty scaling for environmental effects, plasma shots should be slightly less punishing for the player now, electricity emitters and pain zones should be doing slightly more damage now due to fixing a bug
  • The Untrained Environmental skill's passive is slightly less punishing for the player now
    • Zero Rando enviro passive was: -37%, -12%, 12%, 37%
    • Zero Rando enviro passive now: -28%, -6%, 14%, 37%
    • (hopefully it will still be worth upgrading, especially for using armors)
  • Robots have been given a slight damage resistance to plasma again, but still less than vanilla (25% instead 75%)
  • Increased darts and flare darts ammo quanitites (not tranq darts)
  • Free and infinite Aqualung at level 1, and it can't be upgraded anymore
  • Slightly buffed levels 1 and 2 of Vision Enhancement

Major Changes

  • Area 51
    • Goal locations are now randomized (sorry speedrunners)
    • The keypad for the Aquinas Router door is now always unhackable
      • So you need to find the computer or datacube to open it
      • Hint: When you approach this door, Helios will give you the password for the computer that opens it
    • The code for the Blue Fusion Reactor keypads in Area 51 is now learned after you use it once
    • Keypads now allow you to type numbers to interrupt the DENIED message (allowing you to guess the last digit of the Blue Fusion Reactor code more quickly)
    • The Aquinas Router keypad code datacube no longer has an incorrect code in the GOTY edition
    • Made some small fixes and tweaks for the Tong ending
    • Fixed some enemy in-fighting on the Page map
    • Fixed too many enemies incorrectly spawning at UC 3 in Area 51 Sector 4
  • Liberty Island changes
    • Goal locations mutual exclusions
      • For speedruns this can reduce the difference between good seeds and bad seeds, meaning fewer resets.
    • Crosshair color range increased to 1000 feet instead of 500 feet, to help spot Leo from a distance
    • Slightly moved the boat's Top of Statue location so it's easier to see from UNATCO
  • The NSF HQ rooftop transmitter computer vanilla location is allowed again
  • The dockyard crane keypad has been changed back to a regular button like in vanilla (originally we thought the crane route was overused, but now it isn't)
  • The values at all skill levels are now visible in the new game screen
  • Small autoturrets now fire at half the rate of full sized turrets, and all turrets in the game use their default firerates
  • Spawned autoturrets can now randomly be small or large
  • Descriptions for weapons/skills/augs now tell you if it's a good roll or a bad roll by showing the default values
  • Added a Gas Station TNT crate for Tiffany in Speedrun mode that explodes automatically 15 seconds after an alarm goes off
  • Goal Rando computers now get a modified texture to differentiate them
  • Updated the Hong Kong Helibase Purge Gas radius to match visuals, and changed from tear gas damage back to Poison Gas damage (same as vanilla)
  • Added the DXMP quick skills menu to single player, and a new similar aug upgrading menu
    • To use them, you have to go to Keyboard/Mouse settings and bind keys for "Activate Multiplayer Skill Menu" and "Activate Quick Aug Menu"
    • You can close the menus by pressing the bound button again, or escape
  • You can now use Augmentation Upgrade Canisters without picking them up, as long as it is highlighted, using either the Quick Aug Menu or the normal Augmentations menu
  • Crosshairs now ignore death markers (don't worry, they didn't actually help you aim, it was only an illusion) and have lower highlight priority
  • Added auto consume to item refusal system
  • Item highlighting is more responsive now (should help with picking up items while jumping)
  • Fixed an exploit where you can sometimes grab items through suspension crates or cabinet walls
  • Datacube glow has been moved up slightly on the Z axis, to fix it not being very visible on some surfaces
  • Increased rates randomization
    • This is how much variety you will see in the overall rates of items, enemies, and weapons for enemies
    • Hopefully this will make different seeds feel more unique, since you might see a seed that is extra heavy on greasels, or commandos, or enemies with pepper spray
  • Fixed weapon mods being rerandomized when going to jail
  • The Nervous Worker in VersaLife now has a unique look
  • Fixed shooting LAWs through narrow walls
  • Added Zero Rando Plus mode, same as Zero Rando but with more of our balance changes included
  • Fixed issues with some displayed damage numbers, and PS40s not breaking doors as advertised
  • Horde mode improvements
    • Repair bots can now spawn
    • When there are too many barrels/TNT crates on the map, instead of swapping them, now 1 damage is dealt to the oldest ones each wave
    • Fixed not resetting augs on start
    • Added number of enemies scaling with difficulty and Enemy Randomization % in Advanced settings
    • Horde mode 100 bottles of wine on the wall (you can carry up to 100 now)
  • Cats now purr when you pet them!

Major Changes

  • You can now pet the dog! And other animals too. With bingo goals.
    • image
  • Loot Refusal for looting carcasses.
    • Check your defaults in the Rando -> Gameplay menu.
    • On your inventory screen you have buttons to mark items as trash or not trash. These are only remembered for the current run (since the stats change every run/seed). Marking an item as trash will also drop it.
    • Trash items will fall from carcasses when you loot them instead of going into your inventory, but you can still pick them up after.
  • Datacubes stop glowing once you've read them, which helps finding datacubes that are close together.
  • Reworked the Synthetic Heart augmentation. It no longer uses energy on its own, it just multiplies the energy cost of the boosted augs.
  • Reworked the Spy Drone augmentation. Energy cost is reduced greatly, but detonating the Spy Drone now costs 10 energy. (You can disable the aug for free.)
  • Fixed the jail mission reducing your grenades and ammo.
  • Speedrun mode now defaults to realtime menus. Fixed the crash when changing levels with windows open. Also autorun is a little smarter now. By the way, we now have an official speedrun leaderboard on https://www.speedrun.com/dxrando
  • Fixed a "missing Animal.ModifyDamage" crash when playing with GMDX v10. (Issue #767)

Major Changes

  • Simplified barrels to combine multiple variants that did the same thing. Also added optional new textures to make it even clearer (look in the Rando menu)
  • Weapons that fall out of enemy hands due to damage now have ammo
  • At the Mission 14 missile silo:

  • Added an option to automatically put away in-hand items when trying to pick something up
  • Nerfed automatic Power Recirculator slightly
  • Fixed a timing issue with gas effects on enemies, such as using pepper spray on them
  • You now start with 6575 skill points
    • Zero Rando mode defaults to Trained pistol with 5000 points remaining like vanilla does (except without the exploit/bug with untraining pistol)
  • More goal location mutual exclusions, to reduce the difference between best seeds and worst seeds for each mission
    • Mission 2 subway vents start and subway ambrosia because of easy skill points
    • Mission 2 warehouse alley generator and sewer jock, this combo was too easy
    • Mission 8 the 2 bar locations, bar is still the best place to check but now you can't get both Harley and Vinny in the bar at the same time
    • Mission 12 starting front gate and exiting at front gate, because that's too much walking back and forth, also slightly moved front gate start forwards where Tong normally is

Here's a trailer for WaltonWare mode. WaltonWare mode is focused on quick wins by completing a single bingo line, and increasing difficulty after every win. The bingo goals are all scaled to their minimum settings and you start in a random area. All bingo goals will be completable within just a few maps!

Here's a trailer for our new Mirrored Maps feature in v2.5. Play through the game with a random mix of mirrored maps, which will keep you on your toes even more than the randomizer has before!

Major Changes

  • Fixed a bug that was causing skill/aug strengths to not be consistent.
    • (Loading older saves will give you different skill/aug strengths from before, but otherwise playable.)
  • New WaltonWare starting locations, previously we only had 13, now we have 40 of them!
  • Added 14 more bingo goals.
  • Vandenberg Silo improvements:
    • Spawn Howard Strong immediately (assuming Helios was born and you downloaded the UC schematics).
      • This allows you to scout for the launch control computer and Howard at the same time.
      • If you kill Howard before redirecting the missile, the infolink dialog will be slightly rearranged to be more appropriate.
    • Fixed Howard and Jock both being able to spawn in the Launch Command room
  • Fixed some songs that can get stuck when using Randomized Music.
    • (This will reset your music config so you may need to re-enable Unreal or UT music in the Rando menu.)
  • Some fixes for Zero Rando mode, including a fix for the mirrored maps option (for values between 1% and 99%) in Zero Rando mode.
  • Removed more balance changes from Zero Rando mode, mostly small map specific tweaks.
  • Nerfed power recirculator aug when you have it in automatic mode.
  • Fixed advanced settings when playing an alternate game mode (such as tweaking the settings for WaltonWare mode).
  • Option for Deus_nsf's tweaked D3D10 shaders, look in the Advanced settings in our Installer program.
  • Computer skill Advanced and Master base costs reverted back to the vanilla.
    • Level 1 is the only one that's OP, we rarely saw players get upgrades past that.
    • Previously the base costs were: 1575 for Trained, 3150 for Advanced, and 5250 for Master
    • Now the base costs are: 1575 for Trained, 2250 for Advanced, and 3750 for Master
  • Nerfed lower levels of speed aug back to vanilla. Max level is still a little weaker than vanilla.
    • We were a little worried about speedruns and races, but as Nitram has shown, speedrunners can adapt.
  • Enabled randomized bot weapons by default.
  • OpenAugTree by WCCC (at the bottom of the Keyboard/Mouse settings, bind it to a key).
    • This is great for playing on Steam Deck or on a controller.
  • Allow animals to be knocked unconscious.

Minor Changes

  • DXRSplits.ini config file now has a goal_time property.
  • Reduced stutter when loading death markers.
  • Fixed collision issues on warehouse fence, airfield shipping containers, and vandenberg command wall.
  • Minor Crowd Control fix.
  • Fixed M02 generator and M09 jammer ambient sounds moving with the goals, and made generator highlightable.
  • Reduced the size of the sound radius for backtracking Jocks.
  • Fix looting LAWs and PS40s from bodies when you already have one.
  • Fixed shuffled enemies sometimes losing their tag (should improve gas station guards).
  • Show damage resistance for hits taken from auto turrets.
  • Smuggler remembers that he let you in, if you give him the password Bloodshot then his security bot will not shoot at you.
  • Autofill computer passwords now default to an account with a known password.
  • Targeting aug now auto triggers for all weapons.
  • If you kill The Merchant, he should now have all the items he was selling.
  • Installer improvements:
    • Migrate existing saves for Vanilla Fixer.
    • Faster Vulkan check.
    • Advanced settings hidden by default.
  • HUDAmmoDisplay also shows number of pickups, like biocells or multitools.
  • Fix speedrun splits view during loading screens, and show gold split time in SEG.
  • Items tossed out of carcasses should no longer block NPCs.
  • Make sure ALL_SHIFTS account on Nervous Workers computer in Versalife has the same password as the rest of the computers.
  • Selecting an aug that can't be installed because the slots are full (in a medbot) will now show what slot it takes, along with the full aug description.
  • Combat Strength no longer activates when throwing grenades.
  • Energy level is shown in inventory description for biocells.
  • Fixed autosave dropping carried decoration (such as a crate).
  • Sub bay doors now have a centered pivot point, so they can be destroyed more consistently (on the sub base side).
  • Added a nanokey for Apartment 12 in the Paris streets (only if goals rando is enabled, because Nicolette can be up there).
  • Public terminals in the lobby of the Paris hostel are now Guest Registries and show if Jaime or Nicolette are inside the locked room.
  • Added alarm to M06 MJ12Lab MiB overlooking office.
  • Reduced an alt+tab issue preventing some menus from opening.
  • Fixed dialog for Jock when redoing the Ocean Lab -> Silo trip.
  • When upgrading an active aug, it now automatically reactivates.
  • Improved description for automatic augs.
  • Remember crouch across saves and loading screens.
  • Fixed M05 UNATCO backtracking to MJ12 lab keypad.
  • We no longer randomize robot sizes, and made the collision slightly smaller for Military Bots and the large Spiderbots.
    • They were pretty clumsy trying to move around in random spots, so we're hoping this reduces that issue.
  • Fixed M05 Paul's security camera, and moved his greasel pit spot forwards slightly.
    • Both of these should make scouting his location a little easier.
  • New hotkeys for Remove Item From Belt, and Autorun. Check the Keyboard/Mouse settings screen to bind these.
