Actionmax does not start on Retropie

Hi, I downloaded the 50 games available on Archive and they all work on Retropie, apart from Action Max which crashes and returns to the main menu, how can I fix? I just renamed the ACTIONMAX folder to ACTIONMAX.DAPHNE like all other games, THANK YOU

Ok, then you are running out of options. You can't symlink as it is not a Linux filesystem, you can't use mklink as it's not NTFS.

On good old FAT32 all I can believe you can do is duplicate the files into multiple folders and be very disk space inefficient.....

since I am impractical can you explain to me which file should I duplicate and where? I've been going crazy on action Max for days

Ok, as I have no idea where you are on this journey, let's start from the top.

Cleanup

• I assume you have the zip package with all the video/audio files, put that safely to one side for the moment.
• Then, after ensuring you have the backup, remove any ActionMax related folders/files you have from /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne

ActionMax Emulator (Only if you are using a Pi) ^{- for future readers}

• This emulator is only required for RetroPie on a 32bit ARM device.
• If you haven't read the details on installing the actionmax-pi emulator you need to do that: https://github.com/DirtBagXon/actionmax-pi
• Use the retropie_setup.sh setup method from that page to make it easier.

Installing Files (fugly way)

• Grab the correctly structured files from https://github.com/DirtBagXon/hypseus_singe_data
• Download the whole repo from the Releases section
• You are only interested in the 00-singe1/actionmax folder within the zip, but you need to take that actionmax folder itself and copy/duplicate it as follows in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne:

38ambushalley.daphne, bluethunder.daphne, hydrosub2021.daphne, popsghostly.daphne and sonicfury.daphne

So will be: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/38ambushalley.daphne as an example.... and contain all the files listed here:

These are the folders you are duplicating, so you will have the same files in all 5 folder.

These folders will not contain the video/audio files, so the final step is:

• Look in the subfolders of the media from your backup (you made in step 1) and copy the m2v and ogg files into the corresponding subfolder of the game folder you created previously.

/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/38ambushalley.daphne/38ambushalley - as an example.

Oh, one step I forgot:

From your backup, you will also need to drop the files: video_actionmaxintro.m2v, video_actionmaxintro.ogg, video_menu.m2v and video_menu.ogg into the root of each game folder too:

/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/38ambushalley.daphne/video_menu.ogg
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/38ambushalley.daphne/video_actionmaxintro.m2v
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/38ambushalley.daphne/video_actionmaxintro.ogg

Again you need these in all 5 game folders (duplicated).

thank you, as soon as I get home I will try this method from scratch

in the end I had to do it in another way: I took a 4GB USB stick, I formatted it NTFS, I inserted the simlinks and the changes to the LUA files that you indicated in another topic. The games start all 5, not going to the main menu of Actionmax. The only problem is that when any game starts, a red target comes out at the bottom right that does not disappear even if I shoot at it (for example with the space bar or with the left mouse button)
