QGIS - Download, Install, and Open for Windows

The CE-QUAL-W2 geometry preprocessor plugin is run in QGIS: the Free and Open Source Geographical Information System application. Additional information about QGIS can be found here. This wiki page provides step-by-step instructions to download, install, and open QGIS on a computer with the Windows 10 operating system so that the program is ready to install the CE-QUAL-W2 geometry preprocessor plugin.

Download

A Windows standalone version of QGIS can be downloaded from this site: https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html

The plugin was developed and tested with the latest release version, which at the time was version 3.18.

Install

To install QGIS on a computer with Windows, navigate to the directory where the setup executable was downloaded. During development, this file was downloaded as "QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.18.0-1-Setup-x86_64.exe". Double click on this setup executable and follow the instructions.

Open

To open QGIS go to the Windows, search bar and type "QGIS". The Window search results should locate any installed versions of QGIS. Click on the QGIS icon to launch the program. The QGIS application interface should now be open on your computer.
