New:

  • Installable:
    • This release (and all future releases) of 12Bar has a 1-click setup executable that will install 12Bar to your machine. Each update, you can run the new setup executable to update all the relevant components!
    • Update: Thanks to a suggestion from the WCH server, I'm now including the 'unpacked' .zip of the app along with the setup executable. You can choose whichever version you wish!
  • Weather
    • No longer requires an API key! Use the app and view weather with no input required
    • New icons and weather descriptions
  • Windows Copilot button has been added for those on compatible builds
    • Disable in the options popup
  • Fluent System Icons are now used throughout the UI
  • App label and Icon:
    • Now hidden on the desktop
    • Instead of broken/no icon or text, will hide

Fixed:

  • Devtools now open in a new window by default instead of getting stuck inside the bar

Changes:

  • Weather issues will now result in hiding weather instead of showing ‘Loading…’ on the bar
  • The placeholder text on the search button has been updated
  • The battery icon now also uses Fluent System Icons for better visibility

Other:

  • Many of the functions previously within the main BrowserWindow function have been moved out in order to improve launch times and overall performance. Both opening and using 12bar should be snappier and more performant!

Bugs:

  • The new weather provider may show incorrect or missing info. PLEASE report this with screenshots if possible!
  • Interacting with the Windows shell (Start, taskbar, etc) can sometime cause the app label+icon to disappear. This may also happen when opening File Explorer from the desktop. Click into and out of another app to temporarily solve this issue.

As always, be sure to check the known bugs and issues page before reporting bugs. Also, keep an eye on the Windows Customization Hub Discord server for updates, teasers, and more!
