    if (pid == 0) {
        char* const argv[] = {"modprobe", "libcomposite"};
        execv("/usr/sbin/modprobe", argv);
        exit(0);
    }
    waitpid(pid, NULL, 0);
}

in this code, you forgot to NULL terminate the argv array.
