FoodWise: A Decentralized Platform for Sustainable Food Practices

Table of Contents

Overview

FoodWise is a decentralized, Web3-based platform designed to promote sustainable food production, management, and consumption globally. It addresses critical issues such as environmental degradation, climate change, and the lack of transparency and traceability in the food supply chain. By leveraging blockchain technology, decentralized storage (IPFS), NFTs, and a native token economy (FoodTokens), FoodWise enhances transparency, fosters global collaboration, and incentivizes sustainable practices.

Features

  • Immutable Records: Track and verify the entire food supply chain on the blockchain, ensuring transparency and trust.
  • Decentralized Knowledge Sharing: Share and access sustainable practices through a decentralized, peer-to-peer network.
  • Digital Certifications: Issue and verify certifications for sustainable practices using NFTs.
  • Community-Governed DAO: Participate in governance decisions that shape the platform's future direction.
  • FoodTokens Economy: Earn and use FoodTokens to incentivize and reward sustainable actions.

Technology Stack

  • Blockchain: For recording and verifying transactions.
  • IPFS: Decentralized storage for data and documents.
  • NFTs: For digital certifications and ownership proof.
  • Smart Contracts: For automating platform operations and governance.
  • Web3.js: For interacting with the Ethereum blockchain.
  • React.js: Frontend framework for building the user interface.

Installation

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/garbhitsh/foodwise.git
  2. Navigate to the project directory:

    cd foodwise
  3. Install dependencies:

    npm install
  4. Deploy the smart contracts to your preferred blockchain network (e.g., Ethereum or Binance Smart Chain).

  5. Start the development server:

    npm start

Usage

  1. Register on the platform and set up your Web3 wallet.
  2. Participate in the FoodWise ecosystem by contributing to sustainable practices, sharing knowledge, or trading certified food products.
  3. Engage with the DAO to vote on proposals and influence the platform's future.

Token Economy

FoodTokens are the native tokens of the FoodWise platform. They are used for:

  • Rewarding sustainable actions.
  • Paying for transactions and services on the platform.
  • Participating in DAO governance.

DAO Governance

FoodWise is governed by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), where every token holder has a voice. The community proposes and votes on changes to the platform, ensuring that it evolves in a way that aligns with the collective vision of its users.
