SumatraPDF forward search not working?

Hi All,

Forward search seems to not be working for me anymore--I've used it successfully in the past. Inverse search is still working fine. Not exactly sure where to start, and here's hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction to fix this. I use Sumatra as my pdf viewer, and that is reflected in my run run configuration. Note that I have two executables of Sumatra on my computer (so I can have to instances open simultaneously). But neither one works.

Here's an example of the run command:
pdflatex -file-line-error -interaction=nonstopmode -synctex=1 -output-format=pdf -output-directory=some/dir/out -aux-directory

Which version of TeXiFy?

• Close all SumatraPDF windows
• Make sure that the run configuration has Sumatra as pdf viewer
• Compile the document
• If Sumatra does not open, then only thing I can think of at the moment is that it's not in your PATH or not installed correctly, try reinstalling it (don't forget to log out/in).
• Does it work if you provide the full path to Sumatra in the run config? Like, custom pdf viewer command and give the full path to Sumatra - not sure if that works though.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using version 0.7.5.
Sumatra DOES open automatically upon compilation, it is in the path, set as the PDF viewer, and I have explicitly specified the path.

Forward search won't jump to the pdf and highlight the text like it used to.

Also adding, although may be irrelevant, is that I read in the documentation that CTRL+Click is used to inverse search. On Sumatra, CTRL+Click doesn't work, but double click does.

Sounds like the documentation is wrong.

Did you have to provide the path to Sumatra in order to let it be opened automatically? Then you may have a portable installation, and it may be forward search doesn't work with that, I don't remember. Something with DDE commands and Sumatra having to be in registry, which is only the case for the non portable installation.
You can try if forward search works with the pdf viewer plugin, to compare.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do not have to provide the path to Sumatra for it to be opened. I am fairly certain it is not the portable version. Recall, that forward search was working in the past for me.

I just installed and tested the PDF Viewer, everything works as expected, aside from a few annoyances with it slowing down my IDE and some buggy navigation.

Then I don't know, sorry. TeXiFy simply executes the ForwardSearch DDE command, so if that doesn't work you need to debug that.

Thanks for trying--I might use the plug-in viewer for a bit and see how I like it. If I ever solve the issue, I will let you know. Thanks again.
