Auto language selection (question)

Hi community,

Question:
I'm using Heliboard on 3 devices. On my main device Heliboard recognises the language I'm writing in. But on the two other devices I need to switch it manually, while the settings seem the same.
Any idea how I can enable the auto-detection for all of the devices? (Is it a Heliboard setting or a device setting).

How do you mean the language is recognised?
Do you mean with multilingual typing or do you mean language hints provided by the input field?

Hi,

I mean the suggestions provided in the toolbar and the auto correction. I use 2 languages, and normally the keyboard recognises after one or words if I'm writing in Dutch or English.
But on my second phone it does not, so I need to select the right language myself. Otherwise it gives wrong suggestions and auto corrections.

I've set the language I'm Heliboard to follow the system, and in the system I have selected English and Dutch as languages.

I have now imported the Heliboard settings from one phone to another, and things seem to work okay (although needs more testing). But I have no idea which setting did the trick.

This is unexpected. When you use multiple languages at the same time, the suggestion scores are adjusted by a confidence value for each language. It's a very simple system, type a word that's in the dictionary for Dutch, and Dutch confidence will go up. Type a word that's not in Dutch dictionary, and confidence will go down.

What might be a thing on a new device: when you use words that are not in the dictionary, the score for that language will be lower. This should improve after a while (or when restoring a backup), when words are added to typed history (assuming you have endabled personalized suggestions).

Check, clear. I will keep an eye open, although hard to reproduce because things are working well now.
