@Roccobot Beautiful work. I'm brand new to HeliBoad and I'm glad to have found it and thankful for the project because it goes beyond offering a mere vanilla AOSP keyboard. I've been playing with customizing the symbols/sub-keys on the main keyboard. I've figured out how to edit the symbols keyboard but not the sub-key menu items on the alphabet keyboard as you have masterfully done here. I mainly want to edit the period key which sub-menu serves are a set of symbols. I would like to edit that set. I kindly ask you, can you please guide me to/place me on the right path where I can edit the period key sub-menu set and any other alpha key, specifically the Z key sub-menu set. Thank you. Anyways, here is my humble yet theme matching theme 😎

I'd recommend to use a simple configuration for the main keys and a JSON version for the function keys (this is by far the most convenient way, I think). This hybrid approach lets you have most of the job done with the simple layout config which is very convenient and fast, then you can conveniently place additional, more complex keys through the Function keys layout in JSON. You can play with
to tell the keyboard where to leave space from a function key to the following of the same line, so that space is filled up with keys defined in the same line of the simple configuration. You can define every popup very precisely, but regarding the main app popups/buttons (these) I'm pretty sure you can have either none or all 5 of them (clipboard, emoji, language, one hand mode, settings). If I'm wrong, I hope someone can explain me how to pick them according to my needs. To add the main buttons to a period key, just go with
• 'period' does some default things differently, but they don't matter if you specify the groupId, so it's basically the same thing as "." In this image there's no key border on backspace button and many others, can you tell me how to do that, also say if I turn off the key borders is there a way to add borders to some certain keys? Also just like width: 0.15 , can I adjust height as well, using height: 0.15? PS: abcd was difficult to adjust my muscle memory, back to using qwerty (orthogonal ver.) 😅 |

In a key, ( For example, 'normal' is a regular key. It's the default type, but you can use it to make buttons like shift look like regular ones. 'function' is the default for stuff like shift, backspace, Numpad, etc. (How it looks depends also in the theme). The type you need to have no background is 'unspecified'. So, the same example I wrote before would become
* NOTE: I know nothing about code, I called it attribute but I'm not sure its the right word. For the width, every line of the keyboard must sum up to 1. There's no 'height' attribute, as far as I know. Al the things are written in the Layout.md knowledge base file. I'm doing my best, so far @BlackyHawky and @devycarol are the true master customizers 🙏 |

The other 3 text files fall under the "custom functional list" so does the QWERTY custom layout goes?

Little tip if you want to make the space bar icon of the numpad view appear on the other views of the keyboard, symbols and more symbols. (I'm talking about the little bar icon.). That's what solves your column problem: If you notice correctly, I've added a space before and after the Indeed, there seems to be a bug if you only indicate the parenthesis. This bug also appears in AZERTY layout, so it's not related to QWERTY layout or to the selected language. That's why I deduced that adding spaces (one before and one after so that the parenthesis is centered in the key) would solve the bug. Obviously, you've guessed that

-7 = backspace the popup part is there because I want to have everything selected if I long press backspace. It is handy when I need to clear a while text field |

This is 33% 'inspirational', to give other users nice layout ideas, 33% show-off, and 34% request for useful suggestions and ideas from other customization nerds.
Here's my layout masterpiece 😎:
Tablet version
Main customizations (see screenshots above):
• Accented vowels (needed for Italian, my mother tongue) and all the currencies I use are easily reachable
• One-hand usability (I'm right handed so everything slightly leans towards the right)
• Bottom-left button points to numpad directly; long press shows standard 'main menu' popup
• No symbols screen, I can reach any symbol I use as a popup from a letter; only main and numpad screens actually used
• No emoji button / emoji screen: 99%of the emoji I actually use are reachable as popup keys
• 'Main' emoji popups as long press on space and comma
• The few kaomoji I actually use are available as popup keys
• Extra keys to make common punctuation and symbols easily accessible (mainly
" ' - _ .), with extra popup stuff• Low line ('underscore') button is invisible by default, in order to avoid getting distracted while typing or swiping; it becomes visible when shift lock is active
• Some custom key icons (I didn't like default backspace and NumPad space key symbols)
• Light and dark themes made by me with 'all colors' (accent matches my website's primary color), with every element tested for accurate contrast and readability
• Proper tablet-optimized variant
• Other random stuff to get a perfect tailor made keyboard for my nerdy needs
