Colors are strange when not converting to RGB before curve #2

Maybe this is obvious to others but I was a bit confused when using curve with a YUV clip because r was luminosity and so on.

I tested with a gray clip.
With a YUV clip:
r = luminance
g = blue
b = red
master = pink (!?)
these are all my approximations of the color.

With a RGB clip:
r = red
g = green
b = blue
master = luminance
makes more sense. :)
