Motors Reading List

To be able to contribute to the Motor Controls software, you are required to understand some fundamental hardware concepts:
- Current: Crash course
- Electromagnetism: Crash course
- Motors: We are using Synchronous motors to propel our pod. We neither design nor manufacture these, but undestanding them still is extremely helpful.
- Accelerometers (we use IMUs for this): Beginners Guide to Accelerometers
- Motor controller: The controller takes a DC input and turns it into 3 phase AC in order to drive the motor. It is not important for you to understand exactly how it does this. You should read the read t he speed control section of this article.
- CAN: The communication protocol that we will be working with.
