The new release of nfdicore 2.0.0 is a BFO-compatible ontology designed to describe metadata for NFDI resources. It represents a significant evolution from the previous version, nfdicore 1.1.1, having undergone extensive modifications to align with BFO requirements. The key update is the incorporation of processes that enable providing more semantics when describing relations between, for example, a resource and an agent. To ensure compatibility with the previous version, two approaches have been adopted: firstly, the continued support for legacy properties like nfdicore:contactPointOf and nfdicore:publisher, and secondly, the introduction of SWRL rules to define these properties as shortcuts for more expressive representations.
