Exiting early "there is nothing to commit"

I'm trying to deploy my first action to github.io and I thought that using github actions would be a good idea to deploy and build my project to host it on github pages. Here's the message i'm getting on my build

As I understand it, this action should create a branch and build into the build folder then I can have github.io point to that branch and host it but I don't know why it's not wanting to commit

Can you post your entire workflow please?

Can you try the following:

• Remove the cache step, I'm suspicious if the path is changing the working directory.
• Remove the cd parts of the workflow before you run ls

I have followed the steps, but it still failed.

It looks like your deployment was successful. It could be that there is nothing to commit because the built files are identical to the deployed files. Check your gh-pages branch

Oh, I see now, you're trying to run the CI from a different branch. I've always had trouble deploying branches other than main

Yes, but this problem only appeared after I upgraded github-pages-deploy-action. There was no such problem in version 3.
And I deployed from the jamstack branch to the static branch.

I can only fall back to version 3
