Contracts
This is work in progress, it relates to RP-1 in the state: April 2019
The idea of this page is to describe the key contracts you are going to encounter in your RP-1 career, so you can plan your expenses better. It shouldn't be a guide on how to achieve them, but to know what's happening.
The initial contracts are quite straightforward. comparatively soon there will be sounding rocket contracts. These contracts are randomly created. The important thing about them is that once one of them is completed, the following ones will be slightly more difficult und bring more payout. (maybe this is only true, if you complete 'difficult' contracts, not for intermediate contracts)
The big first step is to accept the first orbital contract. Once you accept this, sounding rocket contracts are gone. The payout of the first orbit contract are not that high, the big money is the one that only appears after you completed the first orbit: scientific orbit
Note that some contracts may not complete as intended. For example, with Kerbalism, science is only marked as complete (for contract purposes) after ~90% of the science is complete. If a contract stipulates 14 days' endurance and "transmit radiation detection science", contract completion will not trigger as it should. In this case, we recommend going to the debug menu (alt-F12), going to the contracts tab, to the active subtab, and completing the contract that way.
