Import bulk of postman collections

If I export a Postman collection in v2.0 format, it can be imported in Insomnia.
If I export a Postman collection in v2.1 format, Insomnia can't import it and outputs: "No importers found for file"

If you come from Postman and want to migrate to Insomnia, it's not feasible to export individual Postman collections. You want to do 'Postman > Settings > Data > Export data > Download' to make an export of all collections and all environments configured. This should the be imported in Insomnia. Unfortunately there seems to be no support for this right now.

Correct. I think Postman > Settings > Data > Export data > Download still exports in v1.0 format. Can you confirm this?

Haha, thanks for that. I started on a more robust Postman importer recently, which will support all versions going forward.

I ran into this too, you have to find the silly UI button in Postman next to your collection, then it allows you to choose the version:

Choose version 2.0, not the other two. Then it works when you import that .json into Insomnia.

Just going to Settings > Data > Export doesn't give you a choice of export version.

Sadly, after they disable ability to directly interact with collections (because of their account requirement) you can only export via settings.

Ya, I'm not certain but I think Postman's Collection 2.1 format is not the same as the format you get when you export the entire app's data.

I try to use Insomnia after Postman, but I have a lot of collections in Postman, and, I'm lazy to move all of them. I hoped this feature will be done.

Insomnia proclaims that it supports import from Postman but this is simply not true.
Just now I try to import data from Postman Windows version 7.36 to Insomnia Core 2020.5.2
It does not work.

Similar for me with Mac. I downloaded and tried using Insomnia because it advertised being able to import from Postman.

@starlightdreamer are you able to provide the postman file you are trying to import? It would help debug what you are experiencing.

This workaround doesn't work. I was going to use Insomnia, but I will have to remain on Postman due to this issue. A 3.5 year old unaddressed critical impediment doesn't inspire confidence. Nor does closing it without resolution or justification.

Reproducible on Postman v8.10.0 and Insomnia v20201.4.1.

In my case I want to export specific environment from Postman v10.20.10. When I import it in Insomnia v 8.4.5, I get empty document.

Hello everyone 👋 This issue came on my radar. We obviously want to give the best experience ever to import data from Postman:

• I will allocate one engineer to look at this starting January.
• In the meantime we are introducing pre-request scripting into Insomnia, which will increase the compatibility surface with Postman:
• We are also introducing a compatibility layer with pm.* inside of Insomnia (!).

We are moving very fast and shipping a lot, just a little bit more patience and all of this will be done in the next 3 months.

This is finally going to be addressed on the week of Sept 9th 2024 with Insomnia 10.x which will allow the bulk import of Postman collections.
