Only 4 Decimal Places #553
Comments
This seems to be a regression in one of the recent versions, as it definitely displayed proper balances before. Hopefully they can fix this soon, so I can avoid needing to rollback to the previous/working version & import all my accounts again from scratch. |
Also having this problem, balance are no correct any more, only rough estimates. How to fix? |
As Ledger Live is Open Source software on Github, you could investigate the cause yourself, and supply a fix. Many would be grateful for that solution. But, if you are not a programmer yourself, like many of us, then the only option is to wait and hope that someone else provides a fix anytime soon. It's as simple as that. |
It is annoying and it should really be changed soon. Is there any workaraound for this with other tools concerning bitcoin? |
I'd suggest that everyone e-mail Ledger directly & press them to address this. I e-mailed them and, absolutely bafflingly, they said this was actually an intentional change. In other words, the authors of a financial software elected to deliberately change their financial software so that it would show inaccurate values. Given that they have not bothered to respond here, but very quickly responded to my ticket/e-mail, I suspect those who contact them there might be taken more seriously. Hopefully if enough people complain, they'll change it back. Because honestly, it just makes zero sense. What bank account shows your balance rounded to the nearest $10?? |

Was this actually completed, or did it just get closed because Ledger didn't bother to respond? I've not been able to update to verify, due to this other breaking change: #1005 |
Sorry for this auto close, the topic is still relevant, we've been reviewing this topic a few days actually, still waiting for some people to chose the direction on the topic ( which was last changed in LedgerHQ/ledger-live-desktop@2c86386 ), we'll get back to you / document the choices 🙏 |

Still not fixed as far as I know, but I'm not able to verify (as new versions of Ledger Live remain broken due to #1005 - thus I remain stuck on 2.43.1). |
Running Ledger Live version 2.47.0 on Win 11 Pro, and the issue is still not fixed. |
I am really not happy with this situation. Concerning Bitcoin and the underlying sats four digits are really not enogh!
When onboarding new members to the cryptospace these missing four digits are important…

Yup - I am no longer recommending Ledger to any friends/colleagues who I introduce to crypto, and if this doesn't get fixed, at some point I'll unfortunately be forced to move to Trezor :( I hope you've e-mailed them directly, as it seems pretty clear that they're not on top of things here on GitHub. |
2.49 was released and this is STILL broken. It's been more than half a year. Has everyone given up & just moved to Trezor yet? I'm about ready to throw out my Ledgers and start over, what kind of company is this that can't even show you your actual balances... |
Still broken in 2.49.2 |
Confirming it is broken in ledger-live-desktop-2.49.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage |
Windows 11 / Ledger Live 2.50.0. The rounded balance issue is still present in this version. The issue was opened on April 6, 2022. No one cares evidently. |
I would be happy if this can be fixed in this year.... |
Should be resolved in this PR, increasing in Live mobile and desktop the number of digits of all values, and even more precise in Account pages |
This would really be great! |
Yes, I can see it. Let´s hope for the near future and for the next version.... |
Yes, still broken in 2.50.1. Absolutely incredible to regress in this way and then take so long to revert it. |
They're too busy with their new Apple designer patting each other on the back about flashy e-ink displays to, you know, deal with the most basic fundamentals like "actually show correct balances." |
We understand the frustration, but:
As @nparigi-ledger wrote above we have a pending pull request handling the problem and the fix will certainly be in production in the near future. Next time you post here, please behave. |
Describe the bug
This is a re-post of this original issue from the prior repo: LedgerHQ/ledger-live-desktop#4896
Ledger Live is only showing 4 digits of precision for all assets - Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. This makes it more or less unusable if you want to have any measure of accuracy in your accounting.
Tested on 2.43.1 on Win10
Expected behavior
The app should show the actual proper balances (i.e. all 8 digits for Bitcoin). Or if some users don't wish to know their actual holdings (?), at least make it optional.
