Ping Sonar
The Ping Echosounder and Ping360 Scanning Imaging Sonar are sonar devices available from BlueRobotics, which would be great additions for LoCO. We are currently in the process of integrating and testing the Ping (the progress of which has been delayed by COVID) but do not have plans to work with the Ping360 in the near future.
Both sensors are connected via serial connections, and the general idea for integration would be to develop a 3D printed part which connects the Ping to one of the external cross-beams of LoCO, put the Ping's cable through a penetrator, and use a Serial-USB Converter to connect the Ping or Ping360 to the robot's computing, likely the Raspberry Pi. If you try this and get it working, please let us know, but we also hope to achieve this ourselves soon (COVID permitting).
