I broke something.
Ubuntu 22.04 on PC, motion 4.3.2
The PC ubuntu box, that runs motion was due for an update(its been a few months at least).
I ran the update and now the web interface ie looking at 8080 just times out with no response.
motion itself seems to be running... ie the camera files are being created the log is being written.
But {ip}:8080 just times out now.
Thinking it was time I updated motion( I cant recall now how I installed that)
sudo apt-get install --only-upgrade motion
motion is already the newest version (4.3.2-1ubuntu0.1) .....hmmmm
Yet the motion github says 4.6.
So I followed the instructions:
wget https://github.com/Motion-Project/motion/releases/release-4.6.0
and it saved the file.
sudo apt-get install gdebi-core
which installed ok
sudo gdebi {deb package name} now I've tried {motion} and {release-4.6.0} with various errors
sudo gdebi release-4.6.0 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done Unknown package type 'release-4.6.0', exiting
so I need help with either the upgrade syntax
or
working out why the web page server bit has died.
or both.
