Make repo more friendly to non-technical people

I think that we need to do some more work on the readme page. As a noob I'm still confused when I land on this repo readme. Pretend that you've never seen github before... That's who we're aiming to be accessible for, imo.

Suggestions:

• insert second paragraph detailing "what exactly is/ how to use/ access individual text files + you don't need an account" At top of landing/ readme page
• move "git talk" (pull requests appreciated etc) to bottom of readme
• possible transcribing 101 folder
