Hi everyone - welcome to the discussion board on Orali Table!

My name is Brett Matthews, the founder of My Oral Village.

I believe that if digital interfaces are designed thoughtfully and well, with the circumstances and skills of unschooled users - most of whom are very far from being stupid - clearly in mind, hundreds of millions of people who now find fintech effectively unusable will get connected. A great app to help connect this very vulnerable population - about two-thirds women - is one that lets them play around safely, without fear of sending money to the wrong person, and learn really useful stuff by doing it. In other words, the same way the rest of us learn how to use digital software. A great app for this segment is not simple - the drive to simplicity incorrectly assumes stupidity. A great app is 'oral' - building on the strengths of oral communities and the adults who still makes their livelihoods there.

Great apps are built by great communities - where everyone makes themselves known to the others, knows why they are there, and contributes constructively, guided by a spirit of service to the whole.
