This is a curated list for the 'CEFI related resource'on the information hub created for the NOAA Climate, Ecosystems, and Fisheries Initiative (CEFI). The goal of the information hub is

Build a comprehensive Climate, Ecosystems, and Fisheries Initiative Information Hub to provide easy access to regional ocean model outputs (high spatial resolution reanalysis, hindcasts, predictions, and projections optimized for management applications), ecosystem projections, and other information relevant to climate-informed resource management.

The Live Access Server is a highly configurable web server designed to provide access to geo-referenced scientific data. It can present distributed datasets as a unified virtual database through the use of OPeNDAP networking.

Arctic Data Center (NSF)

Arctic Sea-Ice Forecast: NOAA/PSL

Experimental, 0-10 day sea ice forecasts and related atmosphere and surface variables are produced by the NOAA Physical Sciences Laboratory from a fully coupled ice-ocean-atmosphere model called CAFS and is initialized with the NOAA Global Forecast System (GFS) analyses and the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2) sea ice concentrations.

California Current Marine Heatwave Tracker - Blobtracker: NOAA Integrated Ecosystem Assessment

California Current marine heatwave MHW Tracker is a program designed to understand, describe, and provide a historical context for MHWs including the very strong one that occurred during 2014-16 (termed the "blob"). It also tracks current sea surface temperatures (SSTs) and produces a range of indices that could help predict future MHWs expected to impact the California coast.

Coastal Inundation Dashboard: NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services.

The Coastal Inundation Dashboard provides real-time and historic coastal flooding information at a majority of coastal water level stations operated by the US National Ocean Service (NOS) Center for Operational Oceanographic Products & Services (CO-OPS). The product features both a map based view where users can view coastal flooding information geospatially and a more detailed station view where real-time and historical data for a specific location are highlighted.

Distribution Mapping and Analysis Portal : NOAA Fisheries

The Distribution Mapping and Analysis Portal (DisMAP) is a user friendly and interactive website designed to provide visualization and analysis tools to better track, understand, and respond to shifting distributions of marine species. Fisheries Economics of the United States: NOAA Fisheries

Published each fall, Fisheries Economics of the United States takes a detailed look at the economic performance of commercial and recreational fisheries and other marine-related sectors on a state, regional, and national basis. It also describes how U.S. commercial and recreational fishing affects the economy, in terms of employment, sales, and value-added impacts. For each region, management highlights give a summary of stock status, updates on catch share programs, and other selected management issues. A global integrated database of fish biodiversity sampled with scientific bottom trawl surveys. Includes the methods to load, clean, and process public bottom trawl surveys.

GFDL's Data portal: NOAA/GFDL

The portal includes access to output from many GFDL model simulations including the CM.4 (from CMIP6). Data can be accessed via OPeNDAP and FTP.

Global Ocean Data Assimilation System (GODAS) Monitoring Products: NOAA/CPC

GODAS is an ocean analysis system, conducted by NOAA/National Center for Environmental Prediction, which combines observations with an ocean model to deliver routine ocean monitoring products. Animations, maps, cross sections as a function of depth and latitude or longitude, and time-longitude diagrams are among the many pre-generated plots that are available. Monthly state of the ocean briefings are also available.

Ocean Adapt Marine Species Distribution: Rutgers University

OceanAdapt is a collaboration between the Pinsky Lab of Rutgers University, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) to provide information about the impacts of changing climate and other factors on the distribution of marine life to the National Climate Assessment, fisheries communities, policymakers, and to others. Ocean Process Analysis Laboratory: UNH

Hydrographic and biochemical data collection in the coastal Gulf of Maine region has been central to much of OPAL's work through the years. This has included shipboard and moored sampling programs. Sanctuary Soundscapes: IOOS

NOAA and the U.S. Navy are working to better understand underwater sound within the National Marine Sanctuary System. For the next few years, these agencies will work with numerous scientific partners to study sound within seven national marine sanctuaries and one marine national monument, which includes waters off Hawai’i and the east and west coasts. Standardized measurements will assess sounds produced by marine animals, physical processes (e.g., wind and waves), and human activities. Collectively, this information will help NOAA and the Navy measure sound levels and baseline acoustic conditions in sanctuaries.

Satellite Data Products & Services To Support Ocean, Coastal, and Fresh Water Applications: NOAA Coastwatch

NOAA CoastWatch exists to help people access and use global and regional satellite data for ocean and coastal applications. The satellite data products and services can support research, resource management, and decision-making on topics such as understanding, managing and protecting ocean and coastal resources and for assessing impacts of environmental change in ecosystems, weather, and climate.

Science on a Sphere (SOS) Ocean Dataset Videos

Researchers at NOAA developed Science On a Sphere® as an educational tool to help illustrate Earth System science to people of all ages. Animated images of atmospheric storms, climate change, and ocean temperature can be shown on the sphere, which is used to explain what are sometimes complex environmental processes. Videos can also be downloaded for viewing from the web.

The webpage for the regionalized North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) forecasts has been implemented to enable National Meteorological Services (NMSs) around the globe and the public to quickly access operational seasonal model forecasts.

Shore Stations Program: UCSD Scripps Institution of Oceanography

The Shore Stations Program collects and provides access to current and historical daily sea surface temperature (SST) and salinity (SSS) measurements observed at shoreline locations along the west coast of the United States. Currently, there are 10 active stations located along the California coast, ranging from La Jolla to Trinidad.

South Atlantic Fishery Management Council's (SAFMC) Digital Dashboard: Marine Traffic

Their map provides information about current geographical positions of ships as well as other related information, such as ships’ details, their destination, estimated time of arrival, or photographs.

Spray Operations: UCSD

Spray is an autonomous underwater glider that changes buoyancy in order to profile vertically and glides horizontally on wings. Spray is often piloted to repeat survey patterns or to make many crossings of currents. Spray operations are project driven, usually focusing on regions.

Gulf stream Mean and Eddy Kinetic Energy. Uses Spray, an autonomous underwater glider that changes buoyancy in order to profile vertically and glides horizontally on wings.

Tides and Currents: NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services

NOAA's CO-OPS Collects observations for tidal current predictions and provides access to local water levels, tide and current predictions, and other oceanographic and meteorological conditions.

TOGA-TAO Data : NOAA/PMEL

Display and access data from global tropical buoy arrays including TOGA-TAO in the Pacific, PIRATA in the Atlantic and RAMA in the Indian Ocean. Includes profiles, time series and more.

Trap Count Statistics: Maine Department of Marine Resources

These data are compiled by the Department of Marine Resources (DMR) in Maine using fishway counts provided by agencies, power companies, and a harvester. NC indicates a species is not counted at that location. Fish returns should be considered as provisional.

Tropical Forecasts from Model Analogs: NOAA/PSL

EGI-ACE webODV: Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI)

The EGI-ACE webODV service provides access to large collections of marine temperature and salinity profile data covering the global ocean. These datasets come from two main sources: (1) the distributed, pan-European marine data network SeaDataNet and (2) the international Argo program that is collecting data from thousands of autonomous, free drifting floats.

Ocean & Atmosphere Reanalysis Information (reanalyses.org): NOAA/PSL

The reanalyses.org website is a wiki website whose goal is to facilitate comparison between reanalysis and observational datasets. Evaluative content provided by reanalysis developers, observationalists, and users; and links to detailed data descriptions, data access methods, analysis and plotting tools, and dataset references are all available. There is a specific section on ocean reanalyses.

The HABSOS interactive map combines Karenia brevis cell counts and associated environmental information into a single product, using the latest sample data available to create an accurate picture of HAB location and quantity.

Gulf of Mexico Harmful Algal Bloom Forecast : NOAA/NOS/NCCOS

In the Gulf of Mexico, some harmful algal blooms are caused by the microscopic algae species Karenia brevis, commonly called red tide. Karenia brevis blooms can cause respiratory illness and eye irritation in humans. It can also kill marine life, and lead to shellfish closures. Blooms are often patchy, so impacts vary by beach and throughout the day. NCCOS monitors conditions daily and issues regular forecasts for red tide blooms in the Gulf of Mexico and East Coast of Florida. You can find the forecasts and up-to-date conditions on the site.
