Many edits of upsilon/nu are needed in "additive_functional" so I might need to go through it one more time once you edit them all.
For this PR, I checked that:
- all unicodes are converted to text
- all outputs look good
- codes and comments are aligned so that it's easy to read.
I also commented on a few functions that I think can be combined. Please let me know if you agree/disagree!
