Ubuntu for Azure Developers

Author Dave Glover, Microsoft Australia
Platform Ubuntu 18.04 for Azure Developers, Kubuntu 18.04 for Azure Developers, Ubuntu 16.04 for Azure Developers
Date As at Oct 2019

Developing on Linux for Azure is a great experience and there is superb open source tooling support from Microsoft (and others) for Azure across Windows, Mac and Linux.

I've tended to stick with the LTS releases of Ubuntu Linux, better support, examples, documentation etc. With the release of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS I decided it was time to upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS system.

Installing Linux on a DELL XPS 15/Precision 5530

  1. Installing Ubuntu 18.04 on a DELL XPS 15 Model 9570 (2018)
  2. Ubuntu Kernel Update Utility
  3. Signing a Linux Kernel for Secure Boot

Installing Apps for Azure Development

The following documents the applications, command line tools and SDKs that I have installed for my Azure centric Ubuntu developer desktop. Enjoy:)

  1. Ubuntu 18.04 for Azure Developers
  2. Kubuntu 18.04 for Azure Developers (no longer maintaining)
  3. Ubuntu 16.04 for Azure Developers (no longer maintaining)

Feel free to contribute to these guides.
