The original source image for the Earth's globe texture seen in the Wi-Fi and Mario Kart Channel menus, as well as in the globe from Rainbow Road, comes from this image of the Earth composed by NASA, as part of their "Blue Marble" collection. The image was published on February 11th, 2002 and its max. resolution is a whopping 43200 x 21600 pixels!
