Memory reading for 2.1.25 and 2.2.13 + simplifications

This commit adds memory reading support for 2.1.25 and 2.2.13, it also removes a lot of features that are rendered useless with the memory reading. This is a pretty messy refactor because the code was already in a pretty bad shape but it does the job done at least.
