What is the strategy for the translations in the repository? Is this something we plan to continue in the future? For instance, the German translation hasn't been updated in over 3 years. I'm unsure whether having outdated guides in this repository is more harmful than helpful.
I'd like to know the Code Owners' position on this. The CONTRIBUTING.md should reflect it.

We've noticed that, too. That's why all translations are preceded by a statement that points to the english version as the authoritative/latest source.
I am aware that this is only the bare minimum to avoid confusion. It does not say anything about our strategy so far.
Personally, it sounds like quite a lot of effort to me to keep all translations up-to-date. It turns out that the clean ABAP guide is more "alive" than I had initially thought. Otherwise it would have been acceptable to possibly every now and then (in a matter of ... years, I suppose?) update them according to the latest changes of the english version. This is complicated by the fact that contrary to my naive initial assumption the incoming changes are not only "mostly additions" but rather "changes and improvements everywhere". It feels like tool-assisted translation might even be required to keep the translators' sanity.
