I’ve received meaningless, useless messages while using telephone numbers, e-mail, Discord, Meta Facebook, Microsoft LinkedIn, Quora, Roblox Guilded, X, and other computer programs.
I know nobody who likes receiving such messages, so I discuss with you what benefits you want from computing and how to keep its costs under control. I focus on the messages sent probably with the intention to “scam” people. It seems that some people think that they can receive money without providing something in exchange. I’m not saying that it is not possible, because it has been done, nor am I covering all situations or methods.
One can receive such messages e.g. because:
1.1 some people sell telephone numbers or e-mail addresses and others buy them.
We can help you use means of communication that are more useful.
1.2 one can use a computer program without paying the developer e.g. monthly.
We can help improve the relationship between software users and developers.
One cannot scam me over the Internet.
2.1 My organisation pays when we’re fairly certain that we’re getting what we order or we can fight attempts at fraud.
2.2 I block users who send such messages.
2.3 I don’t want openness to be this costly, so I went here and disabled the feature they call “open profile”. The other 3 options are enabled, so one can still use LinkedIn chat with me.
2.4 I avoid using software through which I’ve received such messages, because their developers don’t seem to care about reports about scammers.
Whoever wants to be better protected from scams can discuss this in detail with me.
Whoever wants to increase their capital can buy from us a benefit-cost analysis that helps choose the best methods.
Anybody who feels inclined to choose a method like scamming people can talk with me about their inclination.
