- Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (17%)
- Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (10%)
- Large-vessel stenotic atherosclerosis (10%)
- Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy (5%)
- Some idiopathic - esp in elderly.
Based on 6ys of consecutive SAH codes in South Australia. n=742 but only 41(6%) were convexal.
They suggest this is underdiagnosed and is more likely 15%.
Others say AVM, mycotic aneurysms, cortical sinus thrombosis and hypertension are also possible causes.
