INTRODUCTION (Future edits will occur, just writing something up for this)
The topic of this talk originated over a year ago when
a question was brought up concerning the EPA's RadNet
protocol.
The EPA runs a nationwide program known as RadNet
that monitors the levels of radionuclides in the environ-
ment. This includes testing for levels in the air, precipita-
tion, drinking water, and pasteurized milk. The results of
these tests provide a baseline for the background levels of
radiation and can detect increased radiation from events
involving radiological leaks. Stations placed across the
nation are used to monitor the levels of activity of alpha
and beta particles present in the air.
