Traces of Gender Biases in Superhero Data
=========================================

It is often observed that super hero comics operate as a kind of
modern mythology, with the heroes and villians themselves playing the
roles of the Greek Gods. We might thus expect them be useful
indicators of gender biases since they represent idealizations against
a certain cultural frame. This project will use a combination of
descriptive statistics and modeling to investigate whether such biases
exist.

Data Sets
=========

The primary data set of interest is the [Super Heros
Dataset][data1]. For comparison we also use the (actual) human height
weight data set [here][data2].

Language Used
=============

The data sets used in this project use terms like "Gender", "Male" and
"Female" without making distinctions about the relationship between
biological sex and gender, even though weight and height in human
beings are correlated, if at all, with biological markers of sex.

Nothing in this analysis is meant to endorse this
simplification. Instead, I hope to illustrate cultural biases implicit
in these relations.
