The Geo Team ("Geo," "we," or "us") respects the privacy of our users ("you") regarding any information we may collect from you, through our app, ("GEO"), our website (collectively "our services"). This Privacy Policy describes how presonal information about you or associated with you ("personal data") is collected, used, and disclosed by Geo and our affiliates. This applies to all our services.
By accessing using our services, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information, as described in this privacy policy.
For the purposes of GDPR, we count as a "Data Controller" i.e., the company who is responsible for, and controls the processing of your personal data).
We collect personal information from users only as required in order to provide our services. You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services

Location Data: In the process of providing the services, we recieve location data. We will not collect location data without your consent, as given by accepting Location Permissions for the GEO app. Location data is sent to us in the process of fetching nearby messages, and we do not store this information. Location Data is collected when posting a message, and will be stored in that messages metadata, for the purpose of providing that message to other nearby users. We will store that data for only as long as the message is active. After a fixed period of time (24h) the message will no longer be publicly displayed or active, and we will remove the data.

Other Data: We collect information about how you use the service, and content you post to the service, including: your posted messages, set username, interactions, uploaded photos, ("User Content"). To share photos and video, we will access your device storage or camera, with your permission, as given by accepting Storage Permissions or Camera Permissions for the GEO app. We store profile picture images, username, and messages to be displayed publicly. The user can update this information by going to the "User Profile" page in the GEO app.

Data Collected From Third-Party: When signing in with a third party authenticator (Google, Facebook, Apple-Id), we will recieve publicly available information from that account, including profile picture, username, and user ID. We store this information, use it for identification, and display, alongside your posted messages. You can choose to update this information by going to the "User Profile" page in the GEO app.
We use the information you provide to register for an account, display your account with a message, display the location of a message, and participate in the services in any other way.
We will not sell or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.
You have a right at any time to stop collecting location data. Disable location permissions for the app, to opt-out.
We don’t share any personally identifying information with third-parties, except when required to by law.
Google Maps: Geo uses Google Maps services. Through the use of Google Maps API, the user may provide personally identifiable information and Personal Data directly to Google, subject to Google Privacy Policy at https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/. To provide the Services through the Customer Application(s), Google collects and receives data from and End Users, including search terms, IP addresses, and latitude/longitude coordinates. We do not share Data with Google, beyond what is collected in the Maps service.
We rely on one or more of the following processing conditions:
- our legitimate interests in the effective delivery of information and services to you;
- explicit consent that you have given;
- legal obligations.
You have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or all your personal information, please follow the instructions at the end of this section.
User Accounts can be edited by going to the profile screen in the app.
If you would like to request access to your account data, please email "geocacheapp@googlegroups.com".
We will retain your personal information on our systems only for as long as we need to, for operating our services.
If you would like to request deletion of your account and associated data, please email "geocacheapp@googlegroups.com".
You may have certain rights under data protection law in relation to the personal information we hold about you. In particular, you may have a right to:
- request a copy of personal information we hold about you; ask that we update the personal information we hold about you, or independently correct such personal information that you think is incorrect or incomplete;
- ask that we delete personal information that we hold about you from live systems, or restrict the way in which we use such personal information (for information on deletion from archives, see the “Retention of personal information” section);
- object to our processing of your personal information; and/or withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal information (to the extent such processing is based on consent and consent is the only permissible basis for processing).
If you would like to exercise these rights or understand if these rights apply to you, please follow the instructions at the end of this Privacy statement.
Our services may contain links to other websites provided by third parties not under our control. When following a link and providing information to a 3rd-party website, please be aware that we are not responsible for the data provided to that third party. This privacy policy only applies to the services listed at the beginning of this document, so when you visit other websites, even when you click on a link posted through the services, you should read their own privacy policies.
Geo may collect statistics about the behaviour of users. For instance, Geo may reveal how many times a particular version of the GEO app was downloaded or report on the number of logged in in users, based on data gathered by Google Analytics. However, Geo does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described in this policy.
Although most changes are likely to be minor, Geo may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and at Geo’s sole discretion. Geo encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the services after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
