Merch block template building... using CaaS?

Hi Milo community members,

As part of Milo Commerce work we are exploring different ideas for how authors can create instances of Merch block templates.
Since there are different UI variations of Commerce UI "Merchandising Content" (cards, banners, marquees), an author should be able to select from the different UI variants and configure the authored content contained within the block.
Examples:

This is something somewhat similar to how CaaS works and for that reason, one idea is to simply reuse CaaS in some way so that the author can select this type of content. This is where we ask for your inputs:
Do you see any challenges in reusing CaaS? What are the downsides? For example, @auniverseaway mentioned this isn't an option if we cant a Lighthouse score of 100. Has any other team been in a similar situation? We would love to hear your inputs.

At the moment I don't think it's a good approach. It would require a lot of changes to CaaS. CaaS is also really heavyweight to just display a single card, it's currently designed to display collections.
It would maybe be possible to store the data in CaaS and write new code that pulls the card json to display a single card.

I agree with @chrischrischris . CaaS in its current form is not tailored to serve single cards. While I see the need of reusable commerce blocks that are consistent across our sites, this is something that would need to be implemented in CaaS first though.
