Use axis->run_command to change tics font size

I have a figure that I'm drawing as

auto fig = matplot::figure(true);
auto axis = matplot::gca();
axis->plot(x_vec, y_vec);
fig->font_size(15);
fig->title("Density estimate");

Then, I also want to increase the ticks font size for both x and y axis, following this question on SO on gnuplot , I'm trying

std::string ticks_fontsize = "set tics font \", 100\"";
axis->run_command(ticks_fontsize);
fig->save("myfig.pdf");

However, whatever value I choose for the font size, there is no change in the figure. Can you please provide some guidance?
