Maintenance & Troubleshooting Checklist

So, your server doesn’t seem to be running, what now? Here are some things to try to triage what might be going wrong:

Hardware health check

▢ Check the PV panel. Is it physically damaged, obfuscated by dirt, debry or overshadowed by extended periods of overcast weather, nearby trees or buildings?

▢ Check the wiring. Is the wiring all still connected?

▢ Check the icons on the charge controller. Is it looking like the PV is getting recognized? The battery is charging and the output is giving electricity to the Pi?

▢ Check the battery disconnect circuit. Is the dot on the corner of the battery disconnect numerical display, still blinking?

▢ Check the battery Voltage. Is the battery charging? What voltage is showing on the charge controller display? Can you measure the Voltage across the negative and positive terminals with a multimeter?

▢ Check the RaspberryPi. Is the Pi running when power is available?

Software & Networking health check

▢ Check if the RaspberryPi is still connected to the Network. Can you remote access through ssh into the Pi?

▢ Check your router. Is the Pi still connected to your network and has its IP address changed? (sometimes this can be dynamically changed by the ISP/router).

▢ Check the IP address from your computer. Can you see the solar protocol site if you plug in its IP address in the browser?

▢ Check the admin panel of Solar Protocol. Can you check the admin panel to look at your server data by navigating to your IP address and entering your username and password? >> if unsure wat that is please feel free to reach out to us.

▢ Connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse to the RaspberryPi.
