Unable to find mysql configuration file

Hi,

I would like to tweak / customize the mysql configuration for performance tuning, but i could fine mysql configuration file. What i saw inside /etc/mysql/my.cnf doesnt have any content except few lines of comments.

Where can i see the file which has all the options related to mysql so that i can tweak accordingly?
