Inventory Plugin Question - How can I filter results based on the runtime environment???

How can I filter inventory plugin results based on a runtime condition? Specifically, I want to filter results based on whether the runtime environment is dev, prod, or stage.

I've tried several Jinja lookups, but those now seemed to be disallowed, leaving me stuck. I simply haven't bee n able to figure out a way to pass in the target runtime environment
