sed-anchor-ids

Sed commands to add anchor IDs to Asciidoc files.

# Creates anchor ID above header, copies header text to anchor ID, strips "=" from ID

$ sed -i '/^=/s/^\(=\{0,\} \).*/[id\=\"&\"]\n&/; /^\[id\=\"/s/"=\{0,5\} /"/' my_file.adoc

# Converts spaces to hyphens, upper-case characters to lower case, strips backticks, brackets, and forward slashes from the ID

$ sed -i '/^\[id="/s/ /-/g; /^\[id="/s/.*/\L&/; /^\[id="/s/[/`()]//g; /^\[id="/s/\./_/g' my_file.adoc
