Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting today. Here is the meeting summary.

Marketing Meeting - October 22

Chris provided an update on the Open API cheat sheet initiative, noting that they have successfully released a printed version but it needs updates based on community feedback. The team is considering printing larger versions (2x3 meters) to enable in-person collaboration and iteration on the cheat sheet content. They also want to create a similar cheat sheet for Async API and are seeking input on the structure and content.

Lukasz explained that the Async API cheat sheet is currently licensed under Apache 2.0, which is intended for code, not documentation. To properly license the cheat sheet content, they will need to switch to a Creative Commons attribution license. This would require attribution to the Async API community if the cheat sheet content is reused.
The group discussed challenges in developing a vendor ecosystem and sponsorship model for Async API. Key points included:

  • Sponsors can provide value beyond just financial contributions, such as time and expertise from their employees
  • It's difficult to quantify and recognize the value of non-financial sponsorship
  • The team is considering experimenting with a private, invite-only meeting format to get more candid feedback from sponsors on their needs and how Async API can better support them

The group agreed to continue the discussion on the vendor ecosystem and sponsorship model in the community channel, as it is a complex and ongoing topic. They also noted that the ambassador program discussion would be deferred to a future meeting due to time constraints.
