I'm interested in seeing Acorn in action, but the Heroku app is broken: https://acorn.athena.ai/

consequently all the examples on your blogs are too: http://juan.benet.ai/acorn/2013-05-13/one-player-to-play-them-all/

and I don't find where to learn about Athena: https://athena.ai/ (delayed)

Athena (and Acorn) is "on hold indefinitely" according to the founder's (Juan Benet's) LinkedIn page. There have been no commits to Acorn since 2013 so it appears Acorn is no longer maintained. Juan Benet's latest major project, IPFS has likely taken over most of his time. You can still run Acorn locally by cloning this repo.

I've been meaning to resurrect acorn on top of IPFS / IPLD.
